The surroundings of Třebíč offer a large number of places that are definitely worth a visit. Choose from natural attractions, castles, ruins, museums and energy buildings.

Ratibořice – Goat Farm (11 km)

Goat Farm “Dvůr Ratibořice” specializes in goat milk products, many of which are labeled BIO. Goat farming is governed by organic farming rules and there are about 225 white shorthair goats on the farm. Goat milk is processed in a dairy that is part of the farm. The product range is wide, from milk to yoghurt or cheese. It is possible to get to know the life on the farm after an excursion, which includes a visit to the animal stables and tasting goat milk products.

Sádek – Wine Centre (12 km)

The wine and cultural centre Sádek with vineyards, hotel, restaurant, smokehouse, archive cellars, wine shop and natural amphitheater was built on the north-western edge of the Znojmo sub-region in 2003. Five hectares of vineyards in the Pod Sádkem vineyard track are situated at the place of the former countship vineyards. The production of the local vineyard offers quality, cabinet and attributive wines. Particular attention is paid to the production of ice wines, the selection of raisins and the production of organic wines. You can get to know the vineyards on the nature wine trail.

Dolní Vilémovice – Birthplace of Jan Kubiš (13 km)

In Dolní Vilémovice you can find the birthplace of Jan Kubiš, a member of the Czechoslovak Foreign Army in Great Britain, who is known as the hero of the anti-Nazi resistance. Jan Kubiš, 28, together with Slovak sergeant Jozef Gabčík, committed a successful assassination of the Reichsprotector Reinhard Heydrich, who planned to get Bohemia Germanized or destroyed. The house in Dolní Vilémovice was repaired and now it is used as a permanent exhibition on Jan Kubiš s life, which was opened in 2013, on the centenary of his birth. A tour of the house is possible by prior arrangement with the administrator.

Budišov - Castle and Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Gothard (14 km)

A small town, the first mention of which dates back to 1194, will captivate you by the Baroque castle, which was rebuilt from the original water fortress. The chateau is administered by the Moravian Museum, which has placed here the largest publicly accessible collection of prepared animals. Budišov is also interesting for its parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Gothard, whose rotating wind vane is the largest in the Czech Republic and is included in the Book of Czech Records.

Heraltice – Museum of Historical Fire Fighting Equipment (14 km)

The museum is located in a historic building, which was built on the site of a former 13th century fortress. The museum was self-built by local firefighters, and is the only private firefighting museum in the Vysočina Region. You will get to know the history of the village of Heraltice, the history of the Heraltice fire brigade, which was founded in 1894. Here you can see historical fire extinguishers from the 1880s to the 1960s. Although the museum is small, you will also find two unique items that you will not see in any other museum in the Czech Republic. The tours have to be arranged in advance.

Koněšín – Aviation Museum (14 km)

At the Koněšín Aviation Museum, you can see exhibits of civil and military aviation of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. In the exhibition you will find not only aircraft and helicopters, but also a large number of exhibits connected with aviation and school aviation. You can also look into the cockpits of the displayed machines.

Dašov – Museum Dašov Mill, Lookout Tower Mařenka (15 km)

Directly in Dašov you can visit the Dašov Mill Museum, whose history dates back to the Middle Ages and offers an exhibition of milling and rural life. It is necessary to arrange a tour of the museum in advance. A nature trail leads from the settlement of Dašov to the top of Mařenka Mountain with a lookout tower of the same name.

Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou – Chateau and Otokar Březina Museum (15 km)

Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou is known mainly for its Baroque chateau complex in the style of the French Versailles, which includes the parish church of St. Margaret and a large chateau park. The Otokar Březina Museum is also open to the public, mapping the life of this important Czech poet who lived in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou.

Valeč - Chateau (15 km)

The Renaissance chateau was built by Smil Osovský in 1534. After a complete reconstruction, the chateau buildings house a hotel, a restaurant, a wellness centre and a historical part with a tour circuit. The hotel offers accommodation in historical and modern rooms or royal apartments with period furniture. The tour of the castle can be arranged with the hotel staff.

Dalešice – Brewery, Dam and Hydro Power Plant (19 km)

The Dalešice Brewery, built at the beginning of the 17th century, became famous in 1980, when film director Jiří Menzel shot the famous story of Hrabal s Cutting It Short. Today you will find the Museum of Austro-Hungarian Brewing, a restaurant and a hotel in a renovated building. The magic of the Dalešice brewery and the typical scent attracts visitors from a distance to the traditional beer that has been brewed in Dalešice for many years. The name of the village is borne by the valley dam built in 1971-1978 on the Jihlava River for the pumped storage Dalešice Hydro Power Plant and for the needs of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant. In addition to its use in power engineering, the dam has also become a paradise for fishermen, tourists and cyclists, as several tens of kilometers of cycle trails have been marked in the vicinity. The waters of the Dalešice Dam have been cruised since January 2012 by the cruise ship Horácko, which transports up to 115 passengers and offers cyclists the transportation of up to 20 bicycles. From the deck of the ship, passengers can explore the beautiful countryside lining the dam.

Brtnice – Birthplace of Josef Hoffmann and Castle (21 km)

The town of Brtnice is situated in the valley of the Brtnice River and its name is derived from the place where the apiaries (bee houses) used to stand. Above the town stands the dominant panorama of the former monastery and the large castle. Originally the Gothic castle from the 1530s was rebuilt into a Renaissance residence at the end of the 16th century. Visitors to the square will be enchanted by the Renaissance town hall and Baroque houses or the reconstructed birthplace of the Art Nouveau architect and world-renowned designer Josef Hoffmann.

Hrotovice – Forest Nature Trail and Defunct Settlement Mstěnice (21 km)

The trail is 5 km long and is intended mainly for hikers and cyclists. The trail is focused on the forest ecosystem and the visitors can find a number of rare plants and animal species here. The closed circuit of the nature trail with sixteen stops is accessible from the town of Hrotovice through the town road. The access road leads from the church around the cemetery towards the excavations of the medieval village of Mstěnice.

Náměšť nad Oslavou – Chateau, Baroque Bridge and Butcher’s Museum (22 km)

A characteristic monument of the town is the stone baroque bridge, the dominant feature of the town is the Renaissance chateau, which offers examples of tapestries, valuable paintings and historical furniture. There is an extensive collection of books in the castle library (around 16,000 volumes). The chateau parks and the Náměšť game preserve (a hunting ground from the 15th century with an area of 326 ha) adjoin the chateau. The game preserve is open to public every July and August, when you can see fallow deer here. Not far from the square you can visit a museum presenting exhibits with butcher s themes that map meat processing since 1850. The guides are experienced operation staff and the stories of butcher s life enrich their presentation.

Kralice – Memorial of Kralice Bible (25 km)

In the building adjacent to the former fortress, where a secret fraternal printing house found refuge in 1578–1620, the Kralice Bible memorial is located nowadays. The Fraternal Printer used to print here not only religious books, but also various secular works and textbooks. The most significant product was the Kralice Bible, which is not only one of the highlights of the printing arts in this country, but also the treasures of the Czech language. The Kralice Bible contributed to the preservation and development of the Czech language in later times of counter-reformation and exile.

Příseka – Museum of Toy Cars (26 km)

In the newly reconstructed castle, the history of which dates back to the 15th century, you will recall the toys you played with as children. The exhibition offers approximately ten thousand exhibits and you can see not only toy cars but also other toys that were produced in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, USA, China and Japan.

Rokštejn – Ruin of the Castle (26 km)

In the valley of the river Brtnice between Přímělkov and Panská Lhota, there is a castle ruin with remnants of two palaces of one of the oldest Moravian castles. The silhouette of the restored square castle tower welcomes visitors from a distance. The castle and the valley are best accessed from the Přímělkov train stop, from where the green tourist trail leads to the vast 14th century ruins. The length of the route is 3 km.

Dukovany – Chateau and Dukovany NPP (30 km)

When you say Dukovany, many people recall the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant, one of the pillars of the Czech power system. The Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant Information Centre will explain its visitors the principle of electricity generation in nuclear power plants. On illustrative three-dimensional models, anyone interested can see what the reactor and the reactor block look like, or how the used fuel is handled. Excursion to the Dukovany NPP must always be ordered in advance. The village of Dukovany offers visitors a reconstructed early Classicist chateau with a stylish restaurant, accommodation and a castle exposition.

Telč – UNESCO Site (34 km)

The town of Telč with its historic square, lined with Gothic and Renaissance burgher houses with arcades and richly decorated gables, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. Directly from the square, you enter the Telč Chateau, a splendid Renaissance residence decorated with stucco and sgraffito, mirrored on the surface of the pond. In the chateau you will find yourself in a fairy tale and you can guess which fairy tales were filmed here. Around the chateau you will walk through the renovated Renaissance garden with arcades and the chateau park with the charming Classicist greenhouse.

Jihlava – Zoo, Underground and City Walls (36 km)

The main attraction of the regional city is the zoo, which lies in the picturesque valley of the Jihlávka River, just a few steps from the centre. More than 200 animal species can be seen in the area, which is gradually expanding and modernizing. The zoo is also known for breeding Persian leopards, which in addition to Jihlava can be found only in Dvůr Králové Zoo. While walking through the city you can visit one of the churches, walk around the city walls or visit the underground in Jihlava.
